Device firmware updates

Regular firmware updates fix security bugs, add new features and improve stability. The guide describes the firmware-update procedure for PATRONUM cameras and NVRs via the web interface and USB.

Every device contains an operating system that needs to be updated occasionally to fix bugs, optimise performance and improve security (ideally once a year).

Always consult our technicians before performing the update.

Update warnings:

  • Make sure you have the correct update file for your device model!
  • Updating is a major step into the device's operating system and should be done by a professional!
  • Don't switch off or unplug the USB drive until the update is finished!
  • Don't power off the device during the update and avoid power cuts!
  • Any damage caused by skipping the procedure or incorrect update voids the warranty!
  • Some updates may reset the device to factory defaults — back up the configuration or note down the network settings.
  • Performing the update yourself is at your own risk; an incorrect update can lead to extra service costs or irreversible damage.

How do I find the FW version on the device?

Whether IP camera or recorder, you can find the firmware version in the menu (or web interface) under Maintenance > System and the Version info tab.

OTA update

The device can be updated by downloading the latest FW from our server. Under Maintenance > Device upgrade click "Check". The system will check for a newer FW and offer it to download. If a newer FW is available, upload the downloaded file in the same window via "Manual upgrade" and click Update. The warnings above apply. OTA updates of recorders can also be done via the user interface on connected monitors/TVs.

  3. Send the model designation and current FW version to support@patronum.eu.

USB update procedure (XVR and NVR recorders):

  1. Get the device-specific .bin update file and copy it to an empty USB drive (FAT32).
  2. Remove the drive from the PC and insert it into the recorder's USB port.
  3. Go to the appropriate update screen in the device menu.
  4. The USB drive and update file should load automatically.
  5. Click "Update" to start the update.
  6. A progress indicator will show on the screen.
  7. The actual update takes 30 s to 3 min.
  8. You'll be informed of success with the message "Update completed successfully".
  9. The device reboots automatically.
  10. Perform a factory reset and then configure to your needs. The update is now finished.
