Quick answer: A complete camera kit for a typical family house (4 cameras + a network video recorder) costs roughly CZK 21,000 to 39,000 incl. VAT in 2026. A smaller flat or cottage can be secured from CZK 13,649, and a large villa with 8 cameras costs from CZK 62,089 to 76,893 incl. VAT. With PATRONUM systems the price includes no monthly cloud fees or licences.
The prices in this article are not estimates — they are based on the current range of ready-made PATRONUM kits as of June 2026 and are listed including VAT. Every kit includes cameras, an NVR recorder with PoE power and free remote access from the mobile app. Prices are "from" — they vary by the selected variant (e.g. storage capacity).

What affects the price of a camera system
- Number of cameras — the biggest budget item. A typical family house needs 4 cameras (entrance, driveway/garage, garden, rear of the house). Large villas and extensive grounds need 6–8 cameras and a recorder with 16 channels.
- Resolution — 5 MP cameras are enough for a reliable overview of what is happening. 8 MP cameras capture more detail (a face, a number plate) even at a greater distance — for 4 cameras the difference in the kit price is only a few hundred to a few thousand crowns.
- Night range — standard cameras see up to 30 m in the dark, premium versions up to 40–50 m. For large grounds the longer range pays off; for a smaller garden it is unnecessary.
- Camera type — bullet cameras are the classic choice for facades, dome cameras have a vandal-proof design and also suit soffits.
- Installation — PoE systems carry power and data over a single network cable, so any handy person can manage a DIY installation following our IP system installation guide. Professional installation is charged according to the extent of the cabling and the type of building.
Hidden costs to watch out for with competitors
The purchase price is only part of the truth. With cheap WiFi cameras and some foreign brands, expect ongoing fees that turn a "cheap" camera into an expensive one within a few years:
- Cloud subscription — many manufacturers store recordings only in their own cloud and charge a monthly fee per camera. With several cameras that adds up to thousands of crowns a year, forever. PATRONUM systems require no cloud — recordings are stored locally on the NVR recorder and stay under your control.
- Licences for channels and features — with some systems you pay for connecting additional cameras or unlocking motion detection. PATRONUM charges no licences.
- Paid notifications and apps — remote access via the mobile app is free with PATRONUM kits (P2P connection without a public IP address).
- Dependence on WiFi — wireless cameras save cabling, but a WiFi outage means a recording outage. A PoE cable is more reliable and powers the camera at the same time.
Frequently asked questions
What are the monthly running costs?
With PATRONUM kits practically just electricity — a camera system with a recorder consumes on the order of tens of crowns a month. No cloud subscription, licences or app fees.
Can I manage the installation myself?
With a PoE system, yes — you run a single network cable from the recorder to each camera, which also powers it. The step-by-step procedure is described in the IP camera system installation guide. If you do not feel up to drilling and running cables, contact an installation company in your area.
Is 5 MP enough for me, or is 8 MP worth it?
5 MP provides a good overview of what is happening around the house. We recommend 8 MP where you need to recognise detail — a face at the gate or a number plate at the driveway. The price difference for a family-house kit is small (CZK 21,039 vs. 21,620 incl. VAT), so 8 MP is often worth it.
Why not buy a cheap WiFi camera for a few hundred crowns?
A standalone WiFi camera has no local recording to a recorder, tends to depend on the manufacturer's cloud (often with a subscription and data stored outside the EU) and does not record during a WiFi outage. For real home security, a cabled PoE system with an NVR recorder is more reliable and cheaper in the long run.
