Camera-system damage by surge or induction
When do they typically occur:
- during a thunderstorm
- during a power outage
What they mean for the camera system or its parts:
All these events can cause partial or total damage to components, in extreme cases the entire camera system. Such damage is caused by external influences, which are usually outside warranty.
How to defend against them:
The camera system and all its components should be properly grounded, ideally on the same phase. The system should have a UPS or a surge protector. None of these devices can protect the system 100%, however, so we recommend including the camera system in your property insurance.
