Camera image only works during the day
Possible causes
- The power supply is weak for the camera — if you have multiple cameras on one PSU, check that the PSU has enough power for the entire system.
- There's a contact resistance in the power line — check connectors and all joints.
- Power cables have too small a cross-section or are too long (conductor resistance can be calculated using Ohm's law).
- The PSU may be weakened by long-term overload (operation above its rating) and can no longer power the system sufficiently — even though no-load measurement may show 12 V.
Solution
- Replace the PSU with one of the right rating — consider camera count, conductor cross-section and length.
- Plug only one camera into the PSU and test whether it works overnight.
- Inspect the entire camera-system power chain.
