Setting up a camera system with a PoE switch or with IP cameras placed on the same local network as the NVR recorder is straightforward. Follow these steps:
1. Connect the hardware
- Connect the NVR recorder to your router/switch via Ethernet cable.
- Connect each IP camera to the PoE switch — power and data flow over a single cable.
- Power on the NVR. Cameras will receive power from the PoE switch automatically.
2. Configure IP addresses
By default, PATRONUM cameras use DHCP (auto IP). The NVR will detect cameras on the local network and offer to add them. Best practice: assign static IPs to each camera in the same subnet as the NVR (e.g., 192.168.1.100, 192.168.1.101, ...).
- Open the NVR menu → Network → Cameras.
- Click Search — list of detected cameras appears.
- For each camera, set IP, default gateway and DNS.
3. Add cameras to the NVR
- Menu → Channel → Add.
- Select detected camera, enter username/password (default: admin / admin — change immediately).
- Save. Camera live preview appears in the channel grid.
4. Test recording
Verify that the recorder writes video to disk:
- Right-click on a channel → Manual record.
- Wait 1 minute, then go to Playback and play the recorded segment.
Troubleshooting
- Camera not detected: Check Ethernet cable, ensure PoE switch supports 802.3af/at standard.
- "No video signal": Wrong IP address or password mismatch. Re-enter credentials.
- Image freezes: Insufficient bandwidth. Lower camera resolution or upgrade switch to gigabit.
