SONY STARVIS image sensors
Excellent low-light and infrared sensitivity make SONY STARVIS sensors ideal for security cameras. These image sensors use a Back-Illuminated (BSI) construction and an extended photodiode area, simultaneously increasing sensitivity in both light bands compared to common front-illuminated sensors. The new sensors also offer multi-fold higher sensitivity in the visible and infrared spectrum (850 nm) compared to existing Sony chips of the same pixel size.
SONY SUPER STARVIS comparison
Compared to common security cameras — where the manufacturer or sensor type is usually not even specified — PATRONUM cameras have a clear edge in image quality. Especially in poor lighting they are sensitive enough that, for instance, with normal street lighting they don't need to switch to night-time black-and-white mode — even minimal light is enough for a colour image.
