How people-crowding detection works

  • Image capture: the camera records the monitored scene.
  • Image analysis: algorithms analyse the image and count the people in the frame.
  • Crowding determination: if more people than the threshold are present, the system flags the situation as crowding.
  • Alert: after detection the system can send an alert to the operator, start recording or trigger an alarm.

People-crowding detection is a valuable feature that enables more efficient monitoring and crime prevention.

Conditions for proper detection

The security camera must be mounted at 2–4 m height. The tilt angle relative to horizontal must not exceed 30°. Detection range is 10–15 m. There must be no obstacles between the monitored person/vehicle and the camera causing shadowing. Failing these conditions can lead to incorrect operation of the detection features.
